The Keep Signing story
'Keep Signing' was founded in 2022 by Katie after successfully qualifying as a Makaton Tutor. Katie has worked in the entertainment industry for many years and realised while on contract at Chessington World of Adventures in 2017, that she wasn't able to communicate with all the guests. After some research, Katie realised Makaton may be the answer!
From there she moved onto Cruise ships while still working for Happy Kinder Parties as a children's entertainer. Throughout the coming years, she picked up bits of Makaton along the way. Lockdown then hit in 2020 and Katie was asked to start some interactive, online group sessions with some of the young people with learning disabilities in the community-one of which was Makaton and the sessions are still running today! Katie then enrolled on her Level courses and as they say- the rest is history!
Makaton has now encompassed all of Katie's work from children's parties, teaching dance and drama, to running signing choirs and of course Makaton workshops themselves.
